Eligibility for Membership

There are three ways to be eligible for Membership in CU SoCal:
 
  1. Live, work, attend school or religious services in the counties of Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside or San Bernardino.
  2. Be related to a current member of CU SoCal.
  3. Be an employee of a partnering business.
Open your account online or through one of our branch locations. Although it is not required, you may schedule an appointment at a branch location of your choice to eliminate wait time.

Accounts for Children Up To 18
 
Please be advised you must be at least 18 years of age to open a CU SoCal account through our website. CU SoCal offers UTMA accounts can be for children up to 12, and a minor account opened for children aged 13-17. In both cases, the account must be opened in person, as a parent or guardian must be present. Please note children up to 13 cannot have a checking or debit card. For more information on accounts for minors, please call 866.287.6225 or visit your local CU SoCal branch.

To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies each person who opens an account. What this means for you: When you open an account we will ask for your name, street address, date of birth and other information that will allow us to identify you. We may also ask to see your driver’s license or other identifying documents.
