Here’s how you can protect yourself from common fraud threats

CU SoCal is committed to keeping your information safe.

Here’s how you can protect yourself from common fraud threats:

Verify Before You Give
•    Research any charity before donating to ensure it’s legitimate.
•    Don’t feel pressured to donate immediately. Take your time to verify.

Suspicious Package Alerts
•    Be cautious of unexpected texts or emails about delivery issues. Scammers often pose as shipping companies.
•    Instead of clicking links, contact the delivery company directly to confirm any notifications.

Online Shopping Red Flags
•    Stick to reputable websites and verify that the URL starts with “https://”.
•    Check reviews and return policies before purchasing. Avoid sellers who seem  vague or unreliable.

Gift Cards: Not Just for Fraudsters
•    Never tender payment through gift cards. This is a common scammer request.
•    Only buy gift cards from trusted stores and treat them like cash.

Keep Your Account Secure
•    CU SoCal will never ask for your personal or banking details, including passwords or verification codes, via phone, text, or email.
•    Stay informed about account activity by enabling alerts in Online Banking.
