Theft and Fraud
June 29, 2007: We received a call
from a Member who was sent a fraudulent email, seemingly from the credit
union. The email warned that her account was blocked due to invalid
account access attempts, and asked the Member to follow a link that
would require account login and password information.
December 6, 2006:
We've been alerted
that Members are receiving emails offering monetary awards of up to $500
for filling out a survey regarding their financial institution. These
messages are identity theft scams and should be immediately deleted.
At CU SoCal, we're committed to reducing the risk associated with
fraudulent activity, and truly appreciate when Members bring all
questionable activity to our attention. Please know that we will
NEVER send you emails to ask for your personal financial information.
Along with the many safeguards we have in place to
protect your accounts, there are a number of things you can do to take
further steps against identity theft.
